The back of their textbook has an excellent resource on “The Order of Mass” on pages 82-93. The children will be able to identify and relate to what they read there, and what they see in Mass here at St. Andrew’s.
Any videos that accompany or reinforce the scripture are to the left of this page. The children may want to watch them.
Any worksheets in their folder can be completed, but do not need to be turned in. Answers to the worksheets are below.
Session Two - March 8 - what the children worked on:
We completed Chapter 5. Focus was on preparing for the Eucharist by bringing forward the gifts of bread and wine that will be offered to God. Important words from this chapter are blessing and sacrifice.
We completed Chapter 6. Focus was that during the Eucharistic Prayer, we remember that Jesus gives us the gift of himself. Important words from this chapter are Last Supper, Consecration, and Eucharistic Prayer. The children should be able to correlate what happened at the Last Supper and the words we hear during Mass. They should also be able to identify page 55 as one of the most important pages of their book.
We did the sticker activity on pages 98-99. The children might want to look at the interior of St. Andrew's the next time they're at Mass, and find similarities and differences in the altar spaces.
