GOAL
The goal of One Home is to discuss immigration and remind teens that we are all foreigners on a journey to our final home, heaven.
KEY CONCEPTSSCRIPTURE: Exodus Leviticus 19:33-34 Matthew 2:33-18 Matthew 25:35
- Governments have two duties in regards to immigration. The first duty is to welcome the foreigner out of charity and respect for the human person. The second duty is to secure one’s border and enforce the law for the sake of the common good.
- No matter the immigration status of a person, we are called to model Jesus and treat immigrants with respect and dignity.
- The faithful must remember that we are foreigners ourselves. Our families at one point or another immigrated to the Unites States, our family of faith has a history of being foreigners (Exodus, Flight to Egypt, etc…), and we ourselves are foreigners on this earth on our way to our final home, heaven.
